FORWARDED TO ADL-LA:
DEMO WRAP
August 24, 2007
Los Angeles
"A small band of independent animal rights activists (this was not an ADL-LA sponsored event,) decided on the spur of the moment to get together and pay a visit to Ed Boks, General Manager of the six municipal Los Angeles shelters. on the evening of August 24th, 2007. Fired from New York City and asked to leave Maricopa County, Boks has extended his reign of terror against dispossessed companion animals and displaced wildlife to our fair city of Los Angeles.
The true kill rate at any shelter would be the percentage derived from the fraction whose denominator is the total number of animals impounded and whose numerator is the total number of animals killed. We're guessing that rate must be close to 80%. The value of a fraction (and its associated percentage) gets smaller as its denominator increases or its numerator decreases. So, one would either have to inflate the numbers taken in or deflate the numbers being killed. The latter is the more likely course and the one which Boks has chosen as he cooks the books and factors out whole categories in order to make it appear that he has drastically reduced the kill rate.
The activists marched, chanted, and discussed the issues with interested neighbors. One resident in Boks' building actually came out and claimed that others are upset with what Boks does and they want him to leave their neighborhood ASAP! Apparently Boks lied about certain things in his condominium board application - (NOT surprising!)
The picket lasted about half an hour, and one lone police vehicle appeared with a pair of LA's finest sitting inside and sipping coffee. They didn't make any attempt to interfere with the demonstration. Perhaps the United States Constitution is still in effect, after all; even though Bush and those like city attorney Delgadillo are attempting to shred it!"

ADL-LA's Missive Below:
As some of you may have heard, Judge Stewart Rice appears to be working right along side city attorney Rocky Delgadillo and prostitutes Spencer Hart (aka "Hartless") and Richard E. ("Crafty") Kraft, to unlawfully convict the non-profit charity ADL-LA of focused picketing. They are also trying to prevent ADL-LA's freedom of speech by ordering certain pictures removed from ADL-LA's Stop The Killing web site. These pictures are above!
Because of this ludicrous attempt by the 'opposition', other activists have been inspired to do their own demonstrations without the involvement or direction of ADL-LA (see wrap up above and the recent Furious Felines demo wrap up!)
Activists have been vigorously writing to ADL-LA for over a month claiming that because of the premeditated assault on ADL-LA's civil liberties they are even more inspired to do their own thing because they are not ADL-LA members. ADL-LA will still continue engaging in pickets regarding the Stop The Killing campaign, but other groups and independent activists will do their own pickets as well.
Another development that has resulted because of the attacks on ADL-LA's civil liberty, have been posts (including one from a third year law student living far, far away) who is interested in creating another web site regarding the Department of LA Animal Services that has nothing to do with ADL-LA. ADL-LA is certainly eager to see the creativity of those who are determined to make sure that Rice, Delgadillo, Hart 'less' and Kraft don't completely shred the Constitution and continuing their flagrant assault upon ADL-LA in order to climb their own dirty political ladder.
While innocent, precious, healthy and treatable animals are being murdered daily against their will in LA city Death Camps, Ed Boks is cooking the books and lying in order to stay in power and keep his upwards of $200,000.00 per year salary. Other city and LAAS employees are not just allowing this, but perpetuating these horrors; and now, Judge Rice and the pompous prosecutors are attempting to dictate to ADL-LA that the pictures above, of LAAS employees accompanied by another cartoon or individual, must be taken off ADL-LA's STK web site because they are "offensive" and contradict the Stipulated Sentencing Order.
Judge Rice has also concluded that even though activists spent only 14% of the July 2nd picket walking by and/or in front of Boks' condo, (this works out to 86% of their time away from the condo,) he still considers that a violation of the "focused" picketing ordinance! Furthermore, even though INDEPENDANT activists (who were not members of ADL-LA) went up to Boks' public communal call box and tried to ring him on that bright, sunny July day, Rice is holding ADL-LA responsible and ordering the animal charity to pay a fine of upwards of three thousand dollars!!! Rice is pretty loose with money that ought to be spent on helping animals; but this just shows that Judge Rice is not concerned with helping animals, only continuing to 'brown nose' Rocky Delgadillo!
In conclusion, ADL-LA is appealing these convictions, not only because the convictions are ludicrous, but the oppression by the State (the State in this case being the city of LA under Rocky Delgadillo,) has resulted in making some activists afraid to participate in legal demonstrations. These right wing, neo-con's like Delgadillo, who 'does thou protest too much' about other's activities, are in fact guilty themselves of violating laws. So because they feel they are morally superior to others, they are driven to oppress groups like ADL-LA in order to hide their own much worse violative behavior and closets that are full of skeletons (Goggle Rocky Delgadillo!) The good news is that American's and Angelinos are beginning to say "We're as mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore." So a big thank you goes out to those who have been so supportive and helpful to ADL-LA in fighting the attempts by the City Attorney's office to shred the US Constitution and to try and regulate content like the pictures above on a public web site.
YOURS IN THE STRUGGLE,
WE WILL WIN!
