LOS ANGELES - Independent animal rights activists from both Los Angeles and Orange Counties convened for a march and demonstration at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills where Leslie Corea received an award from the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services (LAAS), which runs the six municipal shelters - or Death Camps - behind whose doors tens of thousands of healthy, treatable, and adoptable animals are unceremoniously slaughtered every year. Seems Hef likes to exploit women and animals. At least with the women, it's consensual. He cavorts with the Playboy bunnies while the real bunnies go to their unsung deaths in LAAS' bump rooms.

The activists couldn't help but wonder exactly for what Leslie was the recipient of such acclamation, since she is notorious across the humane and activist communities for a bloodlust the likes of which Adolph Hitler would be proud. She is known to rush animals to the kill room - often in revenge for something a rescuer has said or done that rubbed her the wrong way - despite the animal's having a "hold" placed on him or her and assurance that the interested party is on the way. When that person arrives at the shelter - often from a long distance - he or she is told that the animal is "already gone."

However, some of Leslie's superiors have apparently rubbed her the right way - or vice versa - since she continues to hold a position at LAAS for which she is supremely unqualified. E-mails were leaked clearly showing that Leslie spends time on the job in flirtatious pursuits with superiors rather than making any effort to see that the animals unfortunate enough to have fallen into her murderous clutches enjoy a reasonable chance at being adopted. Seems everyone is getting awards these days. David Diliberto, too, was granted one - and isn't it an interesting coincidence that he was Leslie's paramour engaging in libidinous e-mail exchanges with her on company time? Now, we don't care who does the nasty with whom during off hours - but it does chap our butts to know that employees' can't keep their zippers closed during work hours
and do the job of saving the lives of tens of thousands of innocent animals who have committed no crimes deserving of capital punishment.

The activists shouted to the vans full of party goers (guests to the mansion were loaded up in vans from a UCLA parking garage and driven to Hef's) about LAAS and its refusal to implement the proven policies, procedures, protocols, and programs of No Kill Solutions which have been successfully employed in other progressive shelters nationwide. It has to be so much more difficult to remember lies, cook the books, do constant damage control, and face determined animal rights activism than it would be just to do the job General Manager Ed Boks was hired (at the rate of more than $165,000 a year) to do. Like an embezzler of company funds, Ed must constantly shuffle and re-write figures to artificially "reduce" the kill rate. He is allowing animals to become ill so he can kill them and doesn't have to include them in the kill stats!

He is a sociopath who ran the same con game in Maricopa County and New York City - until officials there caught on and asked him to leave or outright fired him. Then Mayor Antonio 'VillarSalinas' - who delivered an impressive but phony campaign speech to the humane community about making Los Angeles No Kill - appointed this two-time loser out here because he (Tony) thought he was going to receive a huge contribution to a future gubernatorial run by Boks' billionaire friend Gary Michelson. By the way, seems Antonio couldn't keep his own zipper closed as he admitted to a steamy affair behind long-suffering wife Corina Raigosa's back. She has stuck with and taken him back despite his dirty dealings over the years, but she finally had it with Mirthala Salinas.

The Much Love Rescue eventgoers were given an earful educating them on what really goes on at LAAS' charnel house and learned that the humane community was just as incensed as the activists that this monstrous killer would be celebrated instead of censured for the brutal slayer of animals that she truly is.

Leslie has the blood of tens of thousands of innocent animals on her hands - and activists will continue to expose her and the other butchers at LAAS for what and who they do and are. The activists won't stop until the killing stops. Quite a simple concept, really - not requiring any advanced degrees to comprehend. Dealing with psychotic killers is difficult - but activists will not give up until No Kill Solutions is adopted and working.
