MOBILE DEMO WRAP
LOS ANGELES - Fully aware of the irony behind protesting on a bright, warm day in Los Angeles for animals who will never again feel the sun on their backs and whose only escape from their cages will most likely come from the end of a needle sticking into their flesh via a syringe filled with poison, animal rights activists gathered at the mayoral mansion to embark on a round of mobile demonstrations for the Stop The Killing campaign. First up was Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, taken to task for hiring a two time loser named Ed Boks as General Manager, who is known nation wide for being a liar and a fraud. It seems that Boks has now been caught out with hundreds of violations of the Hayden Act, which stipulates that animals must be held for seven days. Boks has apparently been sending them to the kill rooms on the day of impound. He's desperately blogging excuses and disclaimers - but he's been nailed red-handed. Indeed, his hands are dripping with the blood of thousands of healthy, treatable animals at the six City Death Camps. Of course, activists don't want to see the animals killed ever - but they point out the Hayden Act violations as further evidence of Boks' deceptive, sociopathic character. Apparently, everyone is pissed off at ol' Tony. There was an immigrants' rights protest during the morning. "The REAL protesters are here now!" joked animal rights activists as they prepared to begin their mobile demonstrations. L.A.P.D had their finest out that day and an LAPD substation, set up along with a marker board showing a schedule of the day's events (see photos!)
Activists exercised their freedom of speech and right to protest against Villaraigosa, on behalf of the innocent, defenseless dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, bunnies, and wildlife systematically and unceremoniously slaughtered by Ed Boks and his minions - and demanded that Villaraigosa fire Ed Boks and hire No Kill Solutions to do some much needed "fact" finding and then implement proven programs, protocols, and policies that are working in progressive shelters nationwide to reduce and ultimately stop the killing. Villaraigosa was at a photo op with Hillary Clinton in downtown LA at the time, but his teenagers were home along with a bunch of friends who were arriving for a party Villaraigosa was having later that afternoon. His teenage son along with a few others looked out the window of the mansion, and at first began laughing at the protestors, but his big smile seemed to wane when one of the activists looked right at him and told him via a bull horn how the animals are dragged against their will to the kill room and held down on a cement floor where they often times defecate, urinate and vomit in sheer terror, before the needle is plunged into them. Next on the demo agenda was City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo. His neighbors were informed about his sleazy efforts to muzzle animal rights activists with bogus charges and endless courtroom drama. He was made well aware that he cannot criminalize compassion as activists step up their protests against those like Delgadillo, who sanction animal abuse by attacking the civil liberties of those who expose and protest against the horrors inside LAAS. The police presence was burgeoning as more vehicles and officers arrived on scene. But activists - armed with video, legal representation, and moral conviction - kept on educating the neighbors about the suffering and death transpiring daily behind the cinderblock walls of the Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS) charnel houses. As Delgadillo's not one, not two, but THREE separate housekeepers arrived to clean the large residence, they walked up the stairs to the front door leaving the gate opened; so an activist took the opportunity to walk up to the door and leave a leaflet on the porch. Delgadillo is disliked by most of his neighbors so, like at previous demonstrations in his neighborhood, his neighbors were quite pleased that activists were protesting him. Not only does Rocky Delgadillo try to silence activists, but he protects slum lords, lies about his past and engages in flagrant conflict of interest as he takes campaign contributions from Julie Butcher and her local 347 (the union that represents over two hundred LAAS employees) as he does Butcher's bidding.
The mobile demonstrations culminated in the neighborhood of mayoral eys and ears Chief of Staff Robin Kramer. Activists demanded that she advise Villa "La Grossa" to appoint a skilled auditor and consultant who will revamp the department and put the six Los Angeles shelters on the road to No Kill. Neighbors emerged from their homes and many thanked activists for standing up for the animals; in fact, several told the activists that they needed to come back and bring the press!! Only one neighbor seemed disturbed by the protestors and that was because one of them used a "swear" word. The latter was advised to visit the kill rooms of the LA shelters for a salient change in perspective. When looking into the eyes of animals in complete and utter terror while they are being murdered, swear words simply pale in comparison. When all the Robin Kramer leaflets were handed out, activists wrapped up the protest and returned to their vehicles. Police jockeyed into position behind one car. One activist queried the officers: "Should we pull ourselves over, or are you going to do it?" They answered, "Whatever works for you!" In fact, they did no such thing. The activists departed - to the booming sounds of "Fuck the Police" by N.W.A. - as another activist offered glazed donuts to the coppers!!
