Jimmy Blackman and Antonio Villaraigosa appointed Ed Boks to be General Manager of the six Los Angeles city animal shelters. Under Boks, LA city shelters are virtual DEATH CAMPS for tens of thousands of healthy, treatable, lost and homeless animals.

Every year in Los Angeles, tens of thousands of cats, dogs, puppies, kittens, rabbits and wildlife are senselessly and needlessly dragged to kill rooms, held down on a filthy cement floor, where they sometimes defecate, urinate and vomit in sheer terror. Then, they are injected with Fatal Plus poison, their bodies thrown into a freezer, and then picked up the next day by LA city garbage trucks. From there, they are taken to a rendering facility in Vernon and dumped in piles on the ground; precious animals, some with their collars still on. They are then ground up for fertilizer and pet food. |

Why did Villaraigosa’s staff including Jim Bickhart, Jimmy Blackman, Marcus Allen and Robin Kramer allow the Mayor to appoint an incompetent fraud to be the General Manager of OUR six city animal shelters? Pure Greed! Billionaire Gary Michelson promised the mayor large donations for his gubernatorial campaign, if he appointed his friend Ed Boks. |

The Mayor’s office had announced to the humane community in October of 2005, that they were going to hire No Kill Solutions to come in and evaluate the department of Animal Services and then begin to implement programs that have been shown to drastically decrease the kill rate and increase the adoption rate of animals in municipal shelters such as Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Ithica, N.Y. |
But, after a few meetings with billionaire Michelson, this plan changed abruptly and Boks was appointed in December of 2005; and the animals are paying for it with their very lives. Since then, even Michelson realized that he was wrong about Ed Boks, and the entire humane community now realizes that Ed Boks is not only is a fraud (cooking the books) but that he lies to the press consistently about programs at the shelters which are in reality NON EXISTENT.
Until Mayor Villaraigosa and his staff do the right thing for the animals and hire www.NoKillSolutions.com to consult and STOP THE KILLING, animal activists and the humane community will continue protesting public officials such as Jimmy Blackman.
